Long Sutton success in the Jurasic Coast Challenge

Congratulations to Martin Hawkins who, with partner Pete Walton, recently won the Jurassic Coast 3 day challenge event.

The competition was played at Camedown, Lyme Regis and Bridport in windy conditions. Scores of 39, 36 and 37 points were just enough to snatch victory. Well done both!

Captain's Day 2017

All Members,

Thank you to every one who took part in the stableford competition on Captain's Day - 91 players in all. Congratulations to all the prize winners - all photos on LSGC facebook page.

Days like this do not happen without help and support and I would like to say a huge 'thank you' to all those who helped out in advance and on the day to make it the success it was. Thanks must go to Carole Paterson our Ladies Captain who organised all the Ladies who helped with the raffle & refreshment tent; John Williams & Phillip Lock with the registration cards; our Chairman Tommy Tulk who was our starter for the day; our Senior's Captain Rod Tucker & senior members for looking after the putting competition; my good lady who provided the refreshments on the 10th tee...and of course Norman Banfield and Andrew Hayes who sorted all the prizes, put markers out on the course, wrote out all the score cards & managed the result cards. The course looked wonderful and is a credit to all the Green Keepers, led by Johnny Tulk - the course is in excellent condition and the time and investment made by all is plain to see.

Thank you also to Felicity & Graham Holloway - the course would not be what it is today without your efforts.

Moving on to the dinner & dance, 100 people attended the dinner which was excellent. The tables looked great with the pretty arrangements supplied by Amanda Head - thank you Mandy. Many thanks to our Manager, Paul Deeprose & all his kitchen staff for looking after us & of course the bar staff for keeping us from getting thirsty. We were very kindly entertained by Jimmy Quinn who kept us laughing with his humour.

And not for getting our entertainment provided by The Champions who got every one on the dance floor & we danced the night away. Thanks also to Tania Hornett who bravely joined the band with her saxaphone for a few numbers - brilliant.

Finally, I'm pleased to say my charity fund for St Margarets Hospice is now £928.36 better off thanks to the raffle, putting competition & refreshment tent. A wonderful effort.

Thank you to each & and every one of you for making it a very successful day .

John Blackwell

Club Captain.
