Last Sunday we headed to Farrington Golf Club for our next match of the season. In recent years it has proved to be very difficult for us going there and this year was no exception. We played in a strong wind and hard conditions and unfortunately the juniors lost 3-0. Things didn’t start brightly as they closed the course in the morning then at 10.30 they re-opened the course which did not help us at all as we lost a player due to other commitments.
Our stand in captain Haydn 'The Legend' Gibson and Rupert Edwards lost their first match of the game 2 and 1 against a solid 4 and 5 handicappers. Then Will Ross who was playing on his own put up a great effort but lost 6 and 5 to a pair of bandits according to Will who were playing off 8 and 12 so a great effort by Will but very unfortunate. Our last game was having a debut in the team and for Ruben Stacey and Cameron Barrett it was a tough ask playing a 9 and a 15 handicapper at a course they had never played before: they lost 7 and 5 - a great effort to these young lads.
Keep up the great effort and now our aim is to gain as many points as possible for the rest of the season so the next three matches are important in the junior league.
Our next game is at The Mendip on Sunday 19th June. Team sheets are up on the board for the juniors to tick for availability.
