Last Sunday we had the pleasure of hosting Wells GC Junior team coming to Long Sutton to play our juniors in the reverse fixture and a much needed strong finish to the season was required. We had our strongest team of the season out for our three games. Unfortuantly they only had 4 juniors for the game so we had one game with 2 vs 2 and 2 playing 1 player in the other games.
First off in our pairing was our Captain Jordan Watts and Haydn Gibson playing Wells Captain and another junior. Jordan and Haydn both made successful birdies on 14,16 and 17 to win the match 2 & 1 in a well deserved win. Second out was our dynamic duo Rupert Edwards and Stacie Watts; they had a very simple task of dispatching their 28 opponent and beating him 4 and 2 even though they would have had a shorter walk back if they had won 4 & 3! Then in match three Will Ross and Cameron Barrett made short work of beating their opponent 4 & 3 even though Will took 4 shots to get down to the black and white post on the 1st hole he somehow halved the hole and from then on both Cameron and Will played well together and won the game with ease.
So a 3 - 0 win for Long Sutton Juniors on Sunday in a much needed win and it will give us alot of confidence of securing 3rd place in the junior division when the season is finally concluded in September. Just one more game which will be against Mendip GC at Long Sutton but the date has yet to be confirmed so I will give out notices asap when that game will be played .
Well done guys
