 LONG SUTTON CLUB CAPTAIN

 2013

Norman Banfield

When Chris asked me to be his Vice Captain I was truly honoured and proud. Long Sutton is not only a well respected club in golf circles but also the general atmosphere and friendliness of the members is unique in its self.

The Club run three league teams in the Avalon league and a mixed side of Youth and Experience in the Three Counties League, the Juniors also have their own league team.

We enter teams in all the major county competitions at all levels and I know its has always been the Chairman’s  ambition that we should win one of these, in the past seasons we have reached two finals and many semi finals, lets hope we can achieve it in the coming year.

On Wednesday night from April till October we run club nights when members of all abilities turn up and play and socialise after, lots of fun is had by all.

The Club’s annual charity has been the St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice and this day has raised many thousands of pounds over the years and is always oversubscribed, the Hospice is my chosen Charity for the year and any funds collected will go towards the Grand Total.

Golf is a game of making friends and meeting people and along with myself and other committee members we are all available to help and assist you in anything revolving around the club, so please do not feel you cannot approach us if you feel the need.

Finally I would again like to thank Chris for the invitation to be your Club captain and hope to meet and play with as many of you both new and old members as I can in the coming year.
