Ladies Section make generous donation to South Somerset Mind
Report from Western Gazette
THE ladies' team captain at Long Sutton Golf Club has made a generous donation to South Somerset Mind after a year of fundraising.
Sylvia Coache-Tucker presented a cheque for £3,800 to community fundraiser Zoe White after choosing South Somerset Mind as her ladies' captain charity of the year.
Ms Coache-Tucker said: "I chose South Somerset Mind as my charity because I have experience of mental health problems within my family, so understand how it can affect family life.
"I was delighted at the end of my year to be able to hand South Somerset Mind a cheque for the sum of £3,800."
During the year the ladies' team raised money by having a flower demonstration, a Christmas hamper draw, a strawberries & cream afternoon tea and a bridge afternoon.
Ms White said: "We are extremely grateful that Sylvia chose us as her charity of the year and the money she has raised will have a positive impact on our current projects.
"Although we have an affiliation to the national Mind charity, we are still a small, independent charity that is responsible for raising our own funds, so donations like this are extremely valuable to us".
