Somerset Ladies County Championship - Well done Mandy Head (despite the weather!!)

Mandy Head played over the last 2 days in appalling conditions at Bath GC in the Somerset Ladies County Championship. Day one was 36 holes of medal play in rain, hail and strong winds. Having come 20th Mandy came back on day 2 and won her first scratch match play round against a very promising Junior playing off 13. Bad weather came back with a vengeance in the next round including thunder lightening and hail with stones almost as big as golf balls. In minutes the course was white. Play was abandoned and sadly now very cold and stiff Mandy lost to another promising young girl. Well done Mandy.

Many congratulations to Gill Edwards for her Hole in One during the Ladies April Medal last Wednesday.

To quote "Did you hear I played dreadfully in Wed Medal but got my one and only hole in one on the 7th...beaten Ray to it!"

Report on Mixed Friendly Away at Cricket St. Thomas

Report on Mixed Friendly Away at Cricket St. Thomas – 17.4.16 – Thank you to Cricket St. Thomas for making us so welcome this Sunday.  Some faces are glowing now after sudden unused to exposure to the sun…though one pair’s might be from embarrassment as they went to play at Long Sutton instead of Cricket St. Thomas  Credit to them though, they still made their tee time!  Unfortunately, the Long Sutton team could not quite pull off a victory…5 wins to Cricket and 3 to Long Sutton, but everyone had a good time, which is the point of the day.

Look out for the sign up sheet for our next Mixed Friendly, Home v Orchardleigh, Sunday, 15th May.

Mail on Sunday Team - another tough battle

Long Sutton Ladies fought a tough battle to take the match against Yeovil, at Yeovil in the Mail on Sunday team event  to a sudden death tie breaker. Team, Ros Williams, Sheena Smith, Val Fraser, Pat Whitehead and Chris Jowett. They were against some scratch and very low handicap players. To manage to halve the match was some achievement. Sheena Smith had the task of taking the match into a suden death play off. We eventually lost the match on a putt that didn't drop. Well done to our ladies and their caddies.

All the players were given afternoon tea by the host club, which was enjoyed by all.
