The first round of this year's Bowl competition took place at a windy (very, very windy) Oake Manor last Tuesday.
A tricky match versus Minehead (most of our pairs were giving quite a few shots) ended in a 3-2 victory for us.
The first pairing of Norman Banfield and Steve Southgate (unbeaten in almost 2 years) won convincingly.
The second pairing of Rich Bartin and Phil Lock (almost unbeaten in 2 years!!) also won well.
Third off was a new pairing of Pete Burch and Mike Poole who accounted for themselves very well in increasingly windy conditions.
Fourth out were myself and John Parkinson , we had a few senior moments , letting slip a very comfortable lead to lose narrowly after finding the water four times in 6 holes!
Last out were Martin Hawkins and Dave Manning who battled through the worst of the weather (we nearly sent a search party out to find them) but eventually lost 1 down.
Well done to the team, next opponents not yet known, either Weston or Tickenham.
