On Thursday 3rd April 2017 Long Sutton Seniors, under the Captaincy of Rod Tucker played away against Axe Cliff.
The first team, Captain Rod and Bill Bond (S.S.G.C.), had a very close match eventually losing on the17th Hole 2&1.
The 2nd team out were Malcolm Dennes and John Whitehead who battled hard but went down by the same score 2&1. I have been reliably informed that John's Driver never went much above tree height so well done John and well played to you both.
The 3rd team were the Captains Bankers, Glyn Ottery and Grahame Brimble, reunited again for the first time since they were together at Stanchester School, where Grahame was a milk monitor and Glyn was a Lady P E Teacher before his operation; they lost 2&1.
The 4th team Dave Butcher and Peter Hill had a great game and only lost on the 18th hole in a tight game that could have gone either way, well played.
The 5th team were Chris Hockey and Gordon Clamp. Well Gordon was praised by the opposition, as I'm sure was Chris, and his solo performance earned the only half point we got on the day. Nobody mentioned how Chris played, but never mind. Their match was halved.
The 6th team of David Kennedy and Peter Champness lost to a very strong Axe Cliff pair 5&4, but thank you both for playing.
Sorry I drifted off the subject but there was nothing very interesting about the Golf !.
Thank you all for playing.
