Saturday November 9th, the Met office had given an amber weather warning for heavy rain and the forecasters were so right. The Captains Drive In attracted 120 players who tee’d off in heavy rain and after 9 holes were called off the course as the greens flooded;
The weather did not dampen the player’s spirit as they watch the Club Captain, Angela Baker, Senior Captain Len Collin, Lady Captain Denise Tomblin and Junior Captain Jack Tidby take their traditional drives from the 1st tee”. Jamie Brodie and Norman Banfield won the “Guess the length of the Captain’s drive”. The day, although wet raised over £450 towards the Captains charity. The golf event will be rescheduled for later in the month, when the players hope for better weather. Club Captain Angela Baker thank all the players and helpers for their support.
