The Levellers entertained Brean B at home on a lovely sunny and very warm day on Sunday.
The golf played by the Levellers was as good as the weather and ran out very comfortable winners 4 - 1. The only loss was by Captain Load and his unfortunate partner Tim Forward who lost to a very good par on the 18th - 1 down!
The course was in superb condition and the Brean players were very complimentary.
This Saturday sees the return fixture against the B side and will be looking for a better result.
Long Sutton Levellers and The Long Sutton Stags "clashed" in Division 5 of the Avalon League on May 19th and the Stags narrowly won 3 & 2.
It was a close fought contest played in lovely conditions and on quickly improving greens. The 3 & 2 result gave The Stags a healthy 11 - 4 points haul
and skipper Load hopes the result will swing the Levellers way when the two sides meet again on June 9th.
The Levellers entertained Minehead B in the return fixture on Saturday in glorious weather on great greens and the course looked in really good condition.
The Levellers team responded in great fashion to the Captains stirring pre match team talk "play better or you're dropped" as 3 pairs won 5 & 4, one pair 4 & 3 and the only loss was down to a 25' foot putt on the 18th!
The result of 4 - 1 mirrored the away result and gives The Levellers a well deserved 10 - 3 points win.
Levellers Log - 6th May
The Levellers were brought down to earth with a bump following the previous weeks great win at Minehead.
The weather was glorious and the course at Cricket St Thomas was in good shape. Although the greens were true, they were on the slow side.
Rob Ford and Nigel Griffiths both played excellent golf and returned with an impressive 4&3 win. This was the highlight of the day as the following 4 pairs all lost by margins ranging from a sound thrashing 8 & 7, 3 & 2 (twice) and a 2 & 1.
Head teacher's report is " must try harder" in the future - especially against The Stags in two weeks time!
Levellers Log - 28th April 2018
The Levellers travelled to play Minehead and West Somerset B team on Saturday. The weather was chilly but thankfully with very little wind.
First out was Nigel Griffiths & Rob Ford who despite playing good pairs golf lost 4&3. The new pairing of Nick Stacey & Geoff Monks played some solid golf and returned with a fine 3&2 win. Rob Load and Ruben Stacey had a tussle with the scoring going either way but finally they managed to scramble a win by just the single hole.
Graham Load and Chris Slocombe somehow managed to throw away 3 holes over the last 4 to come away with a half when victory was in sight!
The Captains banking pair of Johnny English and Mick Raine sailed majestically over the golf course to finish winners 4&3.
The final points tally was Minehead 3 The Levellers 12.5 - and only the second time they have lost at home in three years - a great start to the new season.

Long Sutton A team vs Minehead at Home.
Well what can I say, another great team performance!
On Saturday 20th May we played host to table toppers Minehead. With a good home record so far this season, this was going to be a crunch game against a very strong and capable Minehead team! Undeterred by the poor weather (at times monsoon style rain) the team ran out winners 3 ½ to 1 ½. Sean Bennett and John Parkinson gained a valuable half from their match, Nick Northey and Barry Harding maintained their 100% winning record and romped home 4&3. Myself and Nick Goodliff maintained our unbeaten record with a 2&1 victory, followed by Luke Appleton and Darren Walker also maintaining their unbeaten record with a 2&1 victory. Last out Jamie Brodie and making his debut Norman Banfield, fought gallantly but lost on 17 to a birdie 2 – 2&1.
Next game is Cricket St Thomas away on June 11th. This will be a tough test for us but we’re playing well and confidence is high!
Great team result well played.

Long Sutton A vs Taunton & Pickeridge
Avalon A Team Match 3 result
Following a great start to the season and two 4-1 home wins the team made a trip to Taunton and Pickeridge, another fine day for golf. We found the course to be much firmer than in previous encounters and the greens not up to their normal high standard, however that didn’t deter a confident team. Out first the undefeated Sean Bennett and John Parkinson, they ended up losing 1 down but were dormy 4 and made birdies at 15,16 and net birdie at 17 to force the match to the 18th! Well played boys, great fighting spirit. Next out myself and Nick Goodliff, also boasting an unbeaten record, we too were locked in a battle and when we were 2 up with 4 to play we thought we were in a good position but we conceded 2 holes and ended up halving on 18. 3rd out were Jamie Brodie and Chris Binding, the pair they played took full advantage of the home conditions and back to back birdies killed Jamie and Chris off, losing 3 and 2. 4th out were another undefeated pair, Barry Harding and Nick Northey, again a close match but Nick and Barry maintained their winning run and made it 3 from 3! Great work lads, keep it up. So the match was 2 ½, 1 ½ as it stood with our final pair, also undefeated, of Darren Walker and Luke Appleton, they too had a big battle going on and turned around a 1 down through 17 to a halve. All in all a great team performance and 6 valuable away points. Next up Minehead at home on May 20th. Minehead are flying high so far so this is a bit of a crunch game if we have any title aspirations.

Long Sutton A vs Orchardleigh
So we start the season at Home to our sister club. It's fair to say after last year's poor start to the season we were a bit nervous and excited to get started!
First out for us Sean Bennett and John Parkinson, Club 4bbb champions and they showed why with a commanding 7&6 victory, 1-0 to us. Next up were Barry Harding and Nick Northey, a great battle took them to 17 where they won 3&1, 2-0, Nick Goodliff and I played in the middle of the match and whilst being up early faltered slightly until 11 where we turned the screw and ran out 4&3 winners, 3-0, 4th out was Darren Walker and Luke Appleton, untried and tested - well it couldn't have gone better commanding 9&7 winners following a sublime 4 under par front nine, 4-0.
IN the tail match was Jamie Brodie and Chris Binding playing to young and up coming golfers, unfortunately youth beat experience on the day and Jamie and Chris lost 3&2, 4-1.
So we take away 10 points from our first home game and look forward to next week's home match vs Cricket St Thomas.
Well done Team well played!
