Club Captain's Welcome
Long Sutton Club Captain 2019/20 Angela Baker
I would like to express a warm welcome to you all and let you know what a privilege and a great honour it is for me to represent and serve Long Sutton Golf Club as its first Female Club Captain.
It has come at a time of great change at the club, with new owners Stuart and Ann Hodder taking the bull by the horns and making sweeping changes, they have a vision of the golf club and know exactly where they want to take it, which makes for very exciting times ahead.
I have been playing golf and a member at the club for about 10 years now and throughout that period the one thing that stands out above all else is the friendliness and camaraderie of the members.
You are assured of a warm welcome at our club by our friendly staff in the Pro Shop, Bar and Restaurant.
Long Sutton Golf Club is an enjoyable test of golf that tests all aspects of your game, but is fun to play, with variety in the layout.
Stuart and Ann have spent considerable time and money to enhance the course in the few weeks they have had ownership, of course Stuart could not have done this on his own, the Head Green Keeper Johnnie Tulk and his team have worked wonders in such a short time and it is very much appreciated by the members.
I would like to welcome Richard Antrobus, Head Professional (Director of Golf) Richard has over 30 years’ experience in golf. Richard is available to discuss and help us to improve our golf either as individuals or in small groups.
Now we have nine floodlit bays in the driving range where we can practice or have lessons even if the weather is poor through the evenings during the winter months.
It's not all about the golf!!
The club house has not been left off Stuart and Ann list of improvements!
Updating and modernising this area has commenced, we wait with anticipation to see what they have planned, new seating, new flooring, tables etc are all on the agenda.
The club runs several non-golfing events, Andrew the Chef and his team provides the best Sunday Carvery around, as well as tasty curry on a Wednesday night during the Winter well worth booking a table to both. I also recommend the cooked breakfast, lunches and fantastic cakes always available
Paul Deeprose our General Manager organises excellent entertainment evenings, these have included a variety of tribute groups which are well supported both by members and the general public.
I look forward to working with the Lady Captain, Denise Tomblin, Senior Captain,Len Collin,Junior Captain, Jack Tidby and of course my Vice Captain, Wayne Parks. I am sure we will all work well as a team and be proud to represent Long Sutton Golf Club
A date for your diaries is June 27th my Captain's Day.
I wish you well for the coming season and look forward to seeing you on the fairway and in the club house throughout 2019\20
