Elvis, Saturday, 16th February – Barry Paul worked the miracle again...he brought Elvis alive and made those who came to the Club last Saturday, feel truly alive as well.  For four hours, we forgot the world outside.  We were swept along by the music and everyone's determination to have a good time...who could be gloomy with the floor show going on in front of us?  I don't just mean Elvis. If you had to stop for breath, there was a free floor show going on, courtesy of Jeff Price, Kev Pain, Barry Harding and “Toots”, not to mention the ladies from the Zumba class!  They were tireless and just what is their do they even stand in those heels, let alone dance?   You could see Fran's feet were itching to get going too.  The music was loud and the dance floor was packed.  You knew you were having a good time because you could feel the vibrations from your feet to your ears and everywhere you looked, others were feeling the same.  You were in a bubble of laughter.  We gave a certain lady and daughter a lift home and she summed it up nicely...”I always like coming to things at the club, especially when there's a good crowd there.  I think it's a lovely room and it's good to see it full.  That was a good evening...and the tickets were only £10!”  and that from the lady who had to clean it next day!

Irish Night

Irish Night at Long Sutton was a great success... the ice cold Guinness went down a treat  with George's delicious steak and ale pie!  We worked it off with fast and furious Irish music and racked our brains over the 'Irish' quiz where we had the answers and had to supply the questions!  Thank you to Tommy for that and to Felicity for the chocolates...she won the Irish Bingo and had given up chocolate for Lent!

For all of those who couldn't be there, what a fantastic night you missed!

Report on ELVIS night

For all of those who couldn't be there, what a fantastic night you missed!

There were over a hundred people in the dining room for the carvery meal – a delicious, huge piece of beef and turkey, with all the trimmings, followed by the comedian and impersonator, Christopher Gee.  He was so funny and clever - we had comic after comic live before us, all in one go – Frank Spencer,  Only Fools and Horses,  Norman Wisdom, Tommy Trinder, Eric and Ernie,- on and on.

I don't think Pat and Sandra were the only ones reduced to tears of laughter!

Then the screams literally started for Elvis...what a night.

The dance floor was packed for two hours solid, the building throbbed to the music, we had impromptu floor shows and when midnight came, there were still shouts for “More, more!”

Naming no names, there were certain men dancing who never dance, but it was all so infectious!
