Due to the inclement weather on Thursday 14th, the Seniors took to the restaurant for an Indoor Pitch and Putt Competition.
Andrew had set up four challenges for the competition:
- A large bull's eye board which required the players to chip a ball onto the target. With scores of 1 to 5 for the rings and 10 for a bull's eye.
- Four nets of different colours spread across the dance floor with four balls of similar colours. Get a ball in a net for 5 points but ten points if the colours of the ball and net match.
- Chip into 3 small holes/nets for scores of 2, 5 or 10.
- Finally, putt to a defined area for zero points. But putt short or long then lose a point for each carpet square outside of the target area.
Seven teams of four completed.
The two teams shared the lead with 69 points so the count back was based on the team with the lowest putting score.
Winners were Alastair Mullineux, Julian Stapleton, Peter Hill and Andy Elfick with a putting score of -35.
The runners up were Richard Axe, Bernard McTernan, John Foad and Roger Brassington whose individual score of -22 in the putting made a major contribution to the teams putting score of -39.
Prior to the competition there was a quiz on the rules of Golf.
Ten questions were asked and two teams tied for first place with 6 correct answers.
A tie break question did not solve the situation so Captain Bill did eeny, meeny, miny, moe to determine that Steve Uzzell Gavin Baker, Stewart Thompson and Chris Thayer won.
Only goes to show that theory is not any good, without being able to put it into practice as they came last in the pitch and putt with 13 points.
The runners up were Malcolm Dennes, Mike Bowling , Chris Hockey and Douglas Hamilton.
