Lady Captain 2017-2018
I am relatively new to golf, and have been playing for 7 years, so I was delighted, honoured and a bit petrified when I was asked to be Carole’s Vice Captain.
I feel very fortunate that before joining the club I knew several of the members, and am assured that their experience and knowledge will guide me through the year ahead.
I know I can rely on Felicity, Graham, Andrew, Paul, Norman and Vanessa to support me. I look forward to working with all sections within the club. John Paterson, Jon Searl and Ruben Stacey to keep Long Sutton Golf Club a friendly and enjoyable club to be part of.
I will strive to continue to put our stamp on the League, and competitions such as the Rogers Cup.
Charity is a very personal thing, and all charities are deserving. However some touch our lives and hearts more than others. Over the last few years I have lost both my mum, and my brother to cancer related illnesses, both received very compassionate care from the Beacon centre at Taunton.
I am very lucky to have 4 fantastic grandchildren, Sophia four and a half, and triplets who are 3. The triplets were born at 31 weeks and received life saving treatment within the first eight weeks of being born, at Yeovil and Taunton Special Care Baby Units.
So my charity is going to be split between SURE. Somerset Unit for Radiography Equipment within the Beacon Centre, and Special Care Baby Unit at Yeovil.
I look forward to 2018 as being a year of new challenges, and enjoying the company of all the existing members, and warmly welcoming new members. I was very pleased that Sarah Uzzell agreed to be my Vice as I know she will do an amazing job.
I have a very knowledgable and loyal committee to support me, and I can assure you that I will do my best to keep Long Sutton a great club to be part of.
