The weather was bright, if a little breezy, and Capt Jack Sparrow, aka Steve Uzzell, and Robinson Crusoe in the guise of Joe Jowett were there to help the Lady Captain start off proceedings on the first tee. The format was a 4BBB, with two scores to count, but with a twist. All ladies were given a playing card on the 1st to denote their suit for the game; either hearts, clubs, diamonds or spades. On each hole a white flag had been placed with a playing card on it, identifying the trump card for that hole, thus entitling the owner of that trump suit to double their score. The twist being that each lady did not know which trump card was going to be on which hole. Pars and Birdies were the order of the day and some great scores came in, but Jo Cook surpassed all with an Eagle on the 15th, helping her team win by some 8 points. Steve and Joe continued the fun with a putting competition after the 18th and this was won by Chris Coates, who was the only lady to get her putt in!
Once everyone was in the ladies enjoyed a delicious two course meal, with grog to drink; what else? The Lady Captain explained that in each team a “White Rat” had been placed but in typical pirate fashion had been sworn to secrecy. With stories of what had actually happened on the course, tales were then retold to the ladies much to their surprise and amusement!! The Lady Captain had many people to thank for making her day memorable including, Jimmy, Paul, Johnny, all the catering team, Joe J, Steve U, Denise, Kath, Carter Jonas (sponsor), the White Rats but especially all the ladies who had made such an effort to support her on the day.
