LSGC Juniors Vs Wells GC

After a short break our next match at home was Wells GC, a much needed win for the team to place some pressure onto the Weston Super Mare who have won every game and are top of the league.

So in our first singles match, Haydn Gibson played an 18 handicapped player and despite giving a lot of shots to the opponent he swept away his opposite number in a fantastic match play manner of a 9&8 win giving Long Sutton our first point of the match. The second singles match was Sam Agar against a 16 handicap player he started well winning the first 3 holes and it was very close for the whole match, Sam played very well and held his nerve to win the game 3&2 and getting Long Sutton another point , 2-0 up after the singles matches.

In our 1st 4 ball match it was the pairing of Alice Achard and Stacie Watts and despite having to give a lot of shots to both opponents they played well together and won their match 7&6 so this gave us a comfortable 3-0 lead with one more match to play. Then in our 2nd 4 ball match it was the combination of Sam Clarke and Cameron Barrett they was also giving a lot of shots but that did not faze the young pairing as they played in a great team effort between the two and romping to a brilliant 7&5 victory in their match and giving Long Sutton the winning margin of a 4 - 0 victory and also giving us a important victory leading to the final showdown with Weston in the next couple of weeks knowing a victory against them can guarantee Long Sutton a chance of winning the league.

Well played everyone and I will see you all soon for the next match.

Yours Sincerely

Team Manager Steve Stopforth
