Wooden Spoon Winners or is it losers!
A group of posers!
I was very pleased with the support I received from the seniors’ section, on Thursday 11th August, with 56 members playing in the Captain’s day competition and 40 joining me for the lunch and the prize giving, that followed.
The team winning the prize for The Most Dazzling Team Name was :-
Jon Searl, John Blackwell, John Whiting and John Parkinson, who came up with “FOUR PLAY”.
Nearest the pin on the 9th was won by Larry Jeram-Croft.
Nearest the pin on the 17th was won by Bill Campbell.
Longest drive on the 5th (sorry Rod, you were in the lake) was won by Nigel Griffiths.
The winning team, with a score of 111 stableford points, was:-
Jim Lloyd, Simon Scarborough, John Rooks and David Kennedy.
With 107 points and 2nd after count back was John Drummond, Andy Elfick, Rod Tucker and Len Collin.
In 3rd place also with 107 points was Jimmy Quinn, Colin Hardaway John Jeanes and Keith Penfold.
They all won something alcoholic!
We also had a wooden spoon award won, if that's the right word, by John Packet, John Cowan, Brian Clarke, and Peter Smart.
Last but not least was top secretary Mr Gavin Baker, who was awarded a pencil sharpener and some tipex for making an error of the card he scored.
Many thanks to all who took part and special thanks for the help I received on the day from club captain John Williams, my vice captain Rod Tucker, Gavin Baker, the scorer Graham Deane and John Nicholson for bringing along his Box Brownie.
Please give your support to next year’s captain Rod, who is organising an away day to Weymouth later this year and who will be holding his own captain’s day in 2017.
Regards to one and all
