On a summers day Roger Brassington captained the Seniors at Kingweston.
Although the ground staff try their best with the facilities they have available, the greens were not much better than our back lawns and were a major factor in the outcome of the match.
Roger partnered by John Rooks took their game to the last hole to lose by one.
Peter Bell and Andy Garyson went down 6 and 5 with Andy retiring early due to the excesses of the weekend.
Robin Ewbank and Steve Uzzell gained the only win of the day with a 5 and 3. A golf lesson for Steve after the Championships certainly paid off.
Dave Butcher partnered with ex-Kingweston player Cyril Griffin started on the 2nd with Dave scoring a birdie. However, after that it was hard going with Chris from Kingweston playing off of 13 scoring 12 pars out of 17 holes with the rest being bogies. This coupled with the quality of the greens resulted in the away couple going down 4 and 3.
Alan Deacon and David Purvis halved their match with David winning nearest the pin.
Mike Stephens and Malcombe Betambo also lost 4 and 2.
The match was enjoyable for all, the meal at the Quarry was delicious, and once again Kingweston proved what a capable side they are on their own course.
