Long Sutton GC hosted the Seniors Open on Thursday 23rd August. The newly introduced 4BBB pairs format attracted 184 golfers representing 30 clubs from all over the South West.
The early starters were greeted with overcast, cool but dry conditions, although to start with it was a little wet underfoot! Thankfully the weather gradually improved into what once again turned out to be a glorious day for golf, albeit the later starters had to contend with a strong stiffening breeze.
The success of the event is a testament to the hard work and organisation from all sections of the club, and it is best summed up by this comment from our visitors from High Post Golf Club:
" We thoroughly enjoyed this year's event (and the new format got a resounding thumbs up). Once again, organisation and hospitality were second to none. From being met in the car park, through registration and the raffle, the putting competition, and the delicious carvery, we were royally looked after from start to finish. And the course was as good as ever, a real achievement given the testing conditions this summer."
and this from another visitor from Oake Manor Golf Club:
"Thanks again for finding our playing partners (Keith and Ian were fantastic company). I would also like to say what a thoroughly enjoyable first game at Long Sutton we had and how well it was organised and run by the members and volunteers, we will be back."

A big thanks to all participants and volunteers on the day especially to the ladies who once again gave up their time to greet the golfers with a friendly smile, to sell them Tombola tickets and offer them delicious cakes at the refreshment tent on the 10th tee.
