Long Sutton Seniors again entered a team for The 2017 Jurrasic Challenge at Lyme Regis Golf Club, having successfully walked away with all the spoils last year! This year however we were only able to enter one team led by ex Seniors Captain Glyn Ottery. He and partner Len Collin were the defending leading points scorers in the 4 ball better ball competition. However neither of them was on top form this year and there would be no repeat of last year's performance as they turned in an inconsistent but creditable 39. However the second pairing of Phil Bowditch and Mike Layzell stepped up to the plate with a score of 42 and won a close fought competition on count back to retain the title for Long Sutton. Our third pairing of Rich Bartin and Steve Uzell checked in with a strong 41, whilst Martin Hawkins and Gavin Baker also returned a 39, with Martin winning a 2 spot on the 9th hole. This gave the Long Sutton Team a combined score of 161 which once again landed us the Team Trophy for a second consecutive year. Well done to everyone and thanks for turning out twice in 14 days, the first attempt at staging the competition having been abandonned shortly after the start because of fog! Thanks to Glyn for leading the team and thanks too to Peter Hill for orgainsing the entry, albeit at a distance - he's currently cruising the Danube I believe!
